TERMS OF USE AND SMS TERMS
Effective date: August 14, 2026
These Terms of Use and SMS Terms (“Terms”) govern your use of the Generation Exchange website, forms, workshops, events, programs, and communications.
By using our website, submitting a registration, or participating in a program, you agree to these Terms. Additional event-specific rules, consent forms, or liability waivers may also apply.
ABOUT GENERATION EXCHANGE
Generation Exchange is a nonprofit organization that provides intergenerational educational programs, free technology workshops, volunteer opportunities, and related community services.
EVENT AND PROGRAM REGISTRATION
When registering for an event or program, you agree to provide information that is accurate and current.
Submitting a registration does not guarantee admission when space is limited. Generation Exchange may contact you regarding availability, scheduling, location changes, accessibility needs, cancellations, or other matters related to your participation.
If you can no longer attend, please notify us by replying to an event message, calling (925) 396-9462, or emailing matt@generationexchange.org.
SMS MESSAGING TERMS
If you check the optional SMS-consent box on a Generation Exchange registration form, you authorize Generation Exchange to send text messages to the telephone number you provide.
Messages may include registration confirmations, event reminders, schedule or location changes, cancellation information, responses to participant questions, and other transactional information directly related to the event or program for which you registered.
Message frequency varies based on the event and your interactions with us. Message and data rates may apply.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of registration, participation, purchase, or donation.
OPTING OUT
You may cancel SMS messages at any time by replying STOP. After you send STOP, you may receive one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed.
To receive messages again, complete a new opt-in or otherwise provide renewed consent.
HELP
For assistance, reply HELP, call (925) 396-9462, or email matt@generationexchange.org.
SUPPORTED DELIVERY
Wireless carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to carrier availability and network conditions.
EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS
Generation Exchange may send transactional emails concerning registrations, programs, donations, or inquiries. You may separately choose whether to receive newsletters, fundraising appeals, or other promotional emails.
APPROPRIATE CONDUCT
Participants and website users must not harass, threaten, discriminate against, or harm others; disrupt a workshop, event, website, or service; attempt to access systems or information without authorization; submit fraudulent, misleading, or unlawful information; use Generation Exchange services for unlawful or abusive purposes; or infringe the rights, privacy, or intellectual property of another person.
Generation Exchange may restrict participation or access when reasonably necessary to protect participants, volunteers, partners, systems, or the organization.
EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE
Generation Exchange workshops and materials are provided for general educational purposes. They are not professional legal, financial, medical, cybersecurity, or technical-repair advice.
Participants remain responsible for their devices, accounts, passwords, data, decisions, and backups. Additional participation agreements or liability waivers may apply to particular programs.
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
Generation Exchange may use or link to third-party services, including Fillout, Twilio, payment processors, website providers, event hosts, and other technology platforms.
We do not control independent third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or privacy practices. Your use of those services may be subject to additional terms.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise indicated, the Generation Exchange name, logos, website content, educational materials, graphics, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to Generation Exchange.
You may use publicly available materials for personal, noncommercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, sell, or commercially exploit protected materials without permission.
DISCLAIMERS
Generation Exchange strives to provide accurate and useful information, but its website, programs, and materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
To the extent permitted by law, Generation Exchange does not guarantee that its website or services will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or protections that cannot legally be waived.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Generation Exchange and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and program partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the website or participation in a program.
Event-specific releases or liability waivers may impose additional terms. If these general Terms conflict with a signed event-specific agreement, the event-specific agreement controls for that event.
PRIVACY
Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Generation Exchange Privacy Policy at https://generationexchange.org/privacy.
CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms periodically. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Changes apply prospectively unless applicable law requires otherwise.
